3 More Merry Ideaz From Your Friendz!

Wow! If I were going to draw a picture of Christmas elves, they would look like all our Creative Friendzy friendz! This time of year seems to bring out all kinds of creativity—sometimes it’s because we truly enjoy making things; other times it’s because budget demands it; while at embarrassing times it could be because we can’t figure out the instructions! IDEA #11: June W.-East Tawas, MI

We have been using Creative Friendzy ideas with our women for a year now after seeing how it worked at our district Ladies retreat and I am lovin' it. Keep up the good work and great ideas.

I do have another idea for you that we have used. We created a "Girl Friendz Directory.” As they ladies came in they filled out a registration card with name, phone and such. Also included in the information was birth date, favorite color, food and flower as well as favorite hobbies. We made copies of all these cards, three hole punched them and put them in pocket folders. The ladies then decorated their folders with stickers and stamps and took their folder home with the challenge to get to know someone better. It's fun to read about other ladies and find out what you may have in common or find that some one you have been looking for to teach you how to crochet or make flower arrangements. Blank cards were also placed in the book so that you may add in any new Girl Friendz that may not be from your church group.

What a wonderful tool for the encouragers in the group who like to send cards and notes and little gifts "just because.”

IDEA #12: Michelle D.- No location

My family all pile into our bed (which seems to have grown smaller over the years). 2 adult sons, an 11 year old daughter and howling beagle keep my husband and myself cozy on Christmas morning as we read from Luke...then it's off to the tree to see who can find the Christmas Pickle in the Christmas tree....I love Christmas: I love my family.

IDEA #13: Arlene R.- No location

Our women put up an "Angel Tree" with little business size cards on it with names of the moms, staff and children at the Casa Grande Teen Challenge Home of Hope. Each card represents a $25 gift card that they purchase for that person from Wal-mart so that the moms can take their kids shopping for something special for Christmas. The church rents a bus and they come to the church cantata. Following the cantata The Mom's Network will have cookies and punch for the Home of Hope. It is so exciting to see their eyes when we also give the moms gift bags with cosmetics and "girl stuff" in their goodie bags.

Last year, one of the moms lost her comb and when she saw a comb in her bag she burst out crying. She said "I know how much the Lord loves me when I lost my comb this morning and He provided one for me tonight." That's what Christmas joy is all about!
