back to school...
One of my favorite times of year
is quickly coming upon us—back to school. We could probably find many reasons
among friendz why it’s their favorite time as well.
For some it might be
the beginning of a new, crisp season that inspires them. While others might
enjoy purchasing school supplies and placing them neatly in carefully tagged
backpacks. Some other friendz might say that the thought of a “moment of peace”
brings a smile to their face.
For me, the idea of preparing to learn new things is exciting.
Just as kids skip off to school to learn, we as friendz should constantly be
looking for new ways to grow in our walk with the Lord and our abilities in
serving Him. Maybe you’ll learn how to take better photos at a local college.
Perhaps you’ll help a seasoned friend do some canning and glean some great tips.
Whatever you decide, choose to learn. Choose to stretch yourself in new
ways. You’ll be glad you did. You might even want to buy yourself a bright,
shiny new pencil case!

Encourage your Welcome Friendz Team to
make each person feel special as she walks in. How?
- Give her a hug.
- Call her by name.
- Present her with a fun prize.
- Spend time asking specific questions.
- Introduce her to other friendz.

Discuss ahead of time with your Spit Spot Team a
specific list of tasks needed to create an inviting room atmosphere for each
Friendzy. Don’t assume they know what is required to make room setup
complete.

We had an exciting week as we spoke with many previous and new
friendz. It was so inspiring to hear from  ladies who are using Creative Friendzy. We was
especially intrigued at all the different ways Creative Friendzy is being used.
For instance, we found youth groups using the books with their girls, like a
“Bible study for chicks.”
By far the most common question as ladies
walked past the exhibit booth, was “This looks really fun, but what is it?”
It was a joy to explain Creative Friendzy. It was amazing how many
ladies were  caught off guard by the fun graphics
and “girly” colors. For so long we’ve just assumed that a “Bible study”
curriculum had to be somber and serious to be effective. That’s simply not the
case any longer. Creative Friendzy wraps relevant and practical Bible principles
in a fun, creative package.
A special highlight of the week was meeting
Shelly. Each morning on our way to the exhibit area, we’d stop for breakfast  at this quaint 50’s retro diner. Shelly,
besides being an incredible server and loads of fun, is a recovering drug addict
and single mom raising two teenage boys.
She is currently reading “The
Purpose Driven Life” and readily admits it’s God who is helping her change the
destructive patterns of her life. Please pray for our new friend.
We were
fortunate to be able celebrate with her a birthday, or more appropriately, an
“anniversary.” According to Shelly, this is the 6th anniversary of her 30th
birthday! Somehow that just sounds better, don’t you
agree? |

Denver, CO to present “Creative Friendzy” at a Chaplain’s Wives Luncheon.
Creative Friendzy is being highlighted as a resource for military wives whose
husbands are deployed. Do you know a military wife who could use some
encouragement? Consider sending her a Creative Friendzy Getting Started Kit.
