to our wonderful creative friendz...
May 1st has a special
place in history. Some know it as May Day. Tradition says that on May 1st you
were to place a pole in someone’s yard for which you had affection. You would then attach streamers to the top of
the pole. You and your friendz would each take a streamer end in hand and begin
to dance happily around the Maypole until noticed by the intended.
Now we don’t have enough poles (more accurately enough
“energy”) to dance around for each one of our friendz we hold dear. However,
sending this letter to you means that somehow God has allowed our paths to
intersect, to intertwine—similarly like the streamers on the
Maypole.
Together, we place our “pole” of devotion in
Creative Friendzy to the Lord and “dance” in worship to Him by gathering
together and discovering His purposes for each of us. What a beautiful picture!
So what does May hold for a creative friend such as
yourself? Well, we’ll discuss ways to have creative leadership meetings, meet
new friendz and as always a new Great Idea!
Happy May
Day!

session 2—effective leaderz
meetingz
|
Got leaders? Last month we discussed where to find
them. (Check the April archive if you missed it.) This month we want to
address how to gather them for training. Let’s face it. We
all have busy schedules and adding “one more thing” can be a daunting task. So
what do you do? You turn “meetings” into “meetingz.” Turn the
ordinary into the extraordinary. How? Using themes for meetingz can make your
time together feel special and in turn make your leaderz feel special. It
doesn’t require a lot of work, but a little extra planning can go a long way in
maintaining your leaders’ morale and effectiveness. Consider
some of the following themes for upcoming leaderz meetings.
Surf’s Up — Use
beach themed items for décor; have everyone dress accordingly.
Mission: Possible — Use clues for an invitation;
have fun, dollar store spy gadgets lying around; dress in black.
Salute to the 70s — List events from the 70s on
invitation; dress in 70s clothes.
Color
Night — Send an invitation with a designated color; everyone dresses
in the color designated, i.e. all red. Add to that, all red food
items.
Legos — Send each person a
“Lego” and ask them to bring it with them to the meeting. Combine legos together
to create something and say, “when leaderz work together…”
Do you have an idea for a meeting? Send
it to us! We’d love to hear about it.
Next month, we’ll
discuss what to do during a leaderz
meeting.
