Nuclear Turkey
One Thanksgiving, my sister was designated
hostess. She decided not to “waste” her time cooking the turkey
the old-fashioned oven way, but rather nuke the bird to his bitter
end. Keeping with tradition, she also made pumpkin pie. Proudly
she presented the Norman of all Rockwell Thanksgiving Turkeys.
This bird was beautiful…pink…and uncarvable.
Too bad our family doesn’t include a dentist. After the main dish,
she informed us that the pumpkin pie hadn’t “set” yet. It seems
the can of pumpkin said “ready to eat” and she took it at its
word. She dumped the contents into the crust and waited for it to
do its magic.
Well, we experienced magic but not in the way
she anticipated. This year, she’s in charge of the drinks. So
whatever our food assignment may be at this year’s Thanksgiving
gathering, may we all come with grateful hearts for God’s
blessings, bounty, family and friendz.
Good to be friendz!

A word well
spoken...
Susan M. and all her friendz from Ft. Leonard
Wood, Missouri encouraged each other with this Great Idea! Before
everyone gathered for the Creative Friendzy meeting, Susan placed
white butcher paper on all the tables and handed markers to the
women as they arrived. Each lady wrote her name on the butcher
paper where she was going to sit for the evening.
Then, everyone took turns moving from seat to
seat writing encouraging words to each person on the butcher
paper. At the end of the night, the women liked the idea so well,
they asked if they could cut the paper apart and take their
encouragement placemat home. Great Idea!
